kairouan

Kairouan is a very ancient Islamic City, it’s a Governorate located in the center of the Tunisian Republic now, it was the capital of « Ifriqiyah ». His Great Mosque is a very important destination for tourists today, it’s the first Religious  building made by the « Aghlabides » under the orders of General « Okba Ibn Nafaa ».

Also, we found in the city of Kairouan the two big water basins, known as « Fisqiyat al Aghaliba ».

The ride in the Souks of Kairouan is very nice experience. During the ride, you can tasted to the famous « Makroudh » of kairouan, it is a traditional pastry, specialty of the region.

In the end, we can not forget the other very known specialty of Kairouan, and I mean by this, the traditional and the popular carpet « Zarbiya Qayrawaniya ».
